Sightsavers event to mark the one billionth treatment for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)

The MYT team were privileged to be asked to assist Helen Ashby, Global Events Manager at Sightsavers in the celebration by Sightsavers and their partners who all met at the Moller Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge on Tuesday 12th November to celebrate delivering a billion NTD treatments.  The billionth treatment was administered on Thursday 16th November to a seven year old girl named Dorcas, who was at risk of NTD’s in Kaduna, Nigeria.

Acclaimed physicist Stephen Hawkings, the Key Note Speaker on the day, highlighted the pioneering work of his father, Dr Frank Hawking who was one of the first people to conduct research into and develop treatment for an NTD known as lymphatic filariaisis (LF).
