IAPB, Blinded by Sugar Webinar
Thursday 12th November 2020
We have now worked for more than 7 years with IAPB on their physical events so it is very exciting to be involved in the backstage of their virtual events too. Since the summer we have started providing IAPB with logistical support with their webinars to ensure IAPB continues to deliver dynamic and engaging events virtually.
In the Blinded by Sugar Webinar and in the lead up to World Diabetes Day, 2020 Australian of the Year and ophthalmologist, Dr James Muecke AM presented a confronting keynote presentation – the story of Neil Hansell, a man who woke one morning blind in both eyes due to neglect of his diabetes. Dr Muecke discussed why type 2 diabetes is a growing worldwide epidemic and explored a number of strategies to curb the toxic impact of sugar on our health and on our world.
A Panel Discussion at the end of the webinar addressed the links between the sugar epidemic, the COVID-19 pandemic and the global gaps where tackling Diabetic Retinopathy is concerned.
We, at MYT assisted during the delivery of the webinar, smooth transition between the presentation and the panel discussion – all while the event was streamed live in FB!
We also work very closely with the IAPB Comms team to ensure the full coverage of the event in all social networks.
Thank you for inviting me to be part of such a distinguished panel, it was really an informative session and I enjoyed being part of the discussions.
Congratulations on a well-executed event!
